MG Cart – More Infos

I have put together a selection of original photos showing the MG-Cart in various uses during WW1. In total I have seen around 30 photos of the MG-Cart, both in WW1 military collections, original German photos and the odd one dismantled, broken carts (very useful when trying to guess how the parts looked etc.). There are also photos of the cart in a sledge version, without the wheel assembly and pulling shaft. All these photos I used during the design stage of this model, combined with looking at similar hand-carts after the war period.

I have also had a good look at old wooden agricultural equipment (mainly from the 1960s and 70s) on farms here in Northern Germany, just to get an idea on how wood and metal age when outside for longer periods. Below is a selection of photos of this equipment.

I would appreciate any other original photos that people come across of these carts, particularly ones used on German airfields, or in other uses during and after the war period.

Making Chain-Links

As one can see the pulling shaft attachment has a chain to secure the locking pin. Here I have added a piece of mini-chain, which will need to be cut to the required length and with two attachment rings (sometimes called coupler or sub-links) fixed to undercarriage. Below is a selection of photos from Italian modelmaker Paolo Terzi showing a simple, but affective way of making these links.

Maks Hof, Germany

German figure painter Maks Hof built and painted one of the casting-tests I carried out on the German MG Cart. As always, he has used many spare JSM and other parts to create an interesting model.
