Pistol 08 / P 08 (or Luger): The P 08 was first produced in 1900, with the German military taken it on in 1908 – hence the name Pistole 08. As a service pistol it had its drawbacks, mainly it was expensive, difficult to produce and susceptible to dirt. Colour of holster: blackened leather.

Note: The Germans never called this weapon the Luger – this is an anglicised name.

German Discus (Turtle) Grenade M1915: Diskushandgranate M1915. The German Model 1915 Discus or Turtle Grenade was made out of 2 pressed steel convex halves (the earlier models were smaller and made from iron) with 4 striker pins around the side and thrown like a discus. In flight the safety pin falls out, the plungers were driven outwards by the centrifugal force (spinning motion when thrown on edge), arming the strikers. The fuse assembly is made of an alloy with 4 brass end screws and required one of the percussion fuses to strike the ground, with no guarantee that it would function. The outer casing had a dark / black painted surface.
